Do you have a collaborator or vendor abroad that needs to send you a package?  We can provide our carrier (UPS, FedEx, DHL) account number to them so they can send you the package.  We will then bill the appropriate charges to your Kuali account number.

This is for small packages (parcels & envelopes) only.  For crates and other large items, please see our Freight Service page for more information.

Step 2 - Complete Our Form

In order for us to capture all the required information, and to streamline the process, we ask that you complete the International Return Service Request Form.  This helps avoid initial back-and-forth e-mails and speeds up the process.

Step 3 - We Will Send An E-mail To Your Vendor/Collaborator

After reviewing the information in your form, we will send a templated e-mail to your vendor or collaborator containing instructions on how to ship the package using our carrier account number (FedEx, UPS, or DHL).

Required Customs Paperwork

It is the responsibility of the person abroad to complete any and all required customs forms for this shipment.  CSU Shipping is not able to complete these forms on behalf of the shipper.  Depending on how they choose to ship the package (DDP or DDU) will determine who is responsible for customs charges.

Incoterms Definitions
DDP – Delivery Duty Paid
DDU – Deliver Duty Unpaid
There are many other Incoterms.  You can view them all and get more definitions at trade.gov/know-your-incoterms

Step 4 - Your Vendor/Collaborator Sends the Package

Using the information provided in our e-mail, your vendor/collaborator will need to visit the appropriate carrier (FedEx, UPS, DHL) to send the package and complete the required customs documentation.

Upon completion of this step, the vendor/collaborator will be instructed to REPLY ALL to the e-mail and include the carrier tracking number so we may associate that with our billing process.

Step 5 - Track Your Package

Using the tracking number provided in the REPLY ALL e-mail, you can use the carrier’s website to track the package and setup e-mail notifications if desired.

Step 6 - Customs Clearance (Import)

Does your shipment require CSU’s Customs Broker to clear U.S. Customs? Inform your vendor/shipper that you need all pertinent shipping documents associated with your shipment, then email shipping@colostate.edu with those documents, cc’ing your vendor, with your request for Customs assistance.

Billing

Due to carrier billing processes, it may take up to 2 months (2 billing cycles) for us to reconcile the final charges.  Your Kuali account number provided in your initial form will be billed for the charges assessed by the carrier which is based on weight, dimensions, origin, destination, storage, and customs charges assessed.  Unfortunately, there is not a way for us to estimate these charges ahead of time.  You can visit the carrier website and use their estimation tools for more information.
